Tears in the Rain:
The Dark Knight

"The mask, the cape, the symbol… they’re not to hide who I am, but to create what I am."

— Batman

This diptych captures the transformative journey of Batman through six iconic incarnations over the past 60 years. Each figure, clad in their distinct bat-suit, emerges from shadow, with light reflecting off rain-soaked surfaces to highlight both the continuity and evolution of this legendary character.

Rain, a recurring motif in the Batman saga, is a powerful symbol throughout this piece. It represents the pervasive darkness of Gotham City and the internal struggles of its protector. The cascading water over the armour emphasizes Batman’s resilience and ability to adapt to new challenges while maintaining his core identity.

Inspired by the ancient symbolism of a divine flood, this diptych reflects the cyclical nature of destruction and renewal. As the rain falls, Batman is driven to ascend, gaining new insights and inner strength. The filmmaker harnesses the rain as a catalyst for transformation, provoking moments of growth, cleansing, and occasionally, chaos—each event shaping the ever-evolving legacy of the Dark Knight.
